Configure Status and Event Logs

The purpose of this section is to present how to configure calculation of Status Log and Event Log from the controller.

Data Set Manager plug-in will be required for performing the following configuration. For more detail information, refer to Configuring Plug-ins.

Status Log

To accomplish configuration of the Status Log, we have to take some basic steps, including

create a data set;
assign this data set to a controller;
configure a threshold.

For more detail information, refer to the Status Log section.

Follow the steps below to create a data set:

in the Show section of the Data Set Manager toolbar click ;
in the New section of the Data Set Manager toolbar click ;
type Active Status in the Data Set Setup window in the Name field;
click OK to proceed.

Now we need to assign a created Active Status data set to the controller named Unit 01. To do this, follow the steps below:

select Controller Configuration window in the main presentation area and select Unit 01 in Controller View window;
expand the node SCADA log in the Unit Property window;
select the Status log data set drop-down arrow to reach the list of data sets;
select the Active Status option button and click OK;
to start automatic data gathering on controller according to the data set we have created, select the Auto start field and set its value to True.

Let's assume, that we have channel Active Status Code which returns active status code from the controller. Now, we need to configure the threshold and assign it to the channel Active Status Code in the following way:

select the Data Set Manager window and drag-and-drop Active Status Code item to the Data Set window to the created data set named Active Status;

Note. You can use filter to simplify the way of searching the required items by simply typing the required word in the appropriate field.

create Threshold by right clicking in the Threshold area in the Data Set Manager window and selecting Threshold;
in the Edit threshold window type Status Code in the Name window;
in the Type drop-down arrow select Always execute to execute this code every time the data is received on this channel;
assign StatusCodeByStatus.js in the Value drop-down arrow;
click OK to proceed;

assign the threshold Status Code to the channel Active Status Code by dragging-and-dropping Status Code item from the Threshold area to the Data sets window;

apply the changes by clicking in the upper left corner so they will be saved on the server.

Once the changes are applied, the threshold starts to check the received data.

If mapping is required, create Status Code Mapping by following the steps described in Create Status Code Mapping.

The other way of Status Log creation is when we want to generate appropriate status code based on the specified conditions, e.g. wind speed or power production is less than some value, etc. Therefore, we need to create a threshold and assign to it the condition of, for example, comparing the values which are lower than 300. To do this, follow the steps below:

in the Data Set Manager window right click in the Threshold area and select Threshold;
type Low Power in the Name field;
select < in the Condition drop-down list;
type 300 in the Value field;
in the Value drop-down list select StatusCode.js;

click the Parameters field. In the Parameters window enter the value 20 of Status Code and Low Power in Status Text. This describes a vendor status code;
click OK to proceed.

If mapping is required, create Status Code Mapping by following the steps described in Create Status Code Mapping.

Now we need to attach the channel Grid Power to Active Status data set by dragging-and-dropping it, and then attach a created threshold Low Power to the Grid Power channel in the same way. Afterwards, apply the changes by clicking in the upper left corner so they will be saved on the server.

Event Log

Event Log comparing to Status Log contains only pure events without setting and resetting time values. For more detail information, refer to Event Log.

To we need to create data set, assign it to a controller or use any of already existing and assigned to a controller data sets and configure threshold.

To configure Event Log, we have to take some basic steps, including

create a data set;
assign this data set to a controller or use any of the available data sets already assigned to a controller;
configure a threshold.

If the required data set is not created, you can create it and assign it to the controller by following the steps described earlier in this section in Status Log Configuration. Afterwards, you can proceed with the threshold configuration. For example, every 30 seconds we need to record values for the wind speed and generator speed (in rpm) into the Event Log. To be able to do this, follow the steps below:

create Threshold by right clicking in the Threshold area in the Data Set Manager window and selecting Threshold;
in the Edit threshold window type Generator-Wind in the Name window;
type 30000 in the Delay field;
in the Type drop-down arrow select Always execute;
assign EventWindGenerator.js in the Value drop-down arrow;

click the Parameters field and in the Parameters window specify the code value 1000;
click OK to proceed;

after creating a threshold, it has to be assigned to Generator RPM and to Wind Speed channels using drag-and-drop;

apply the changes by clicking in the upper left corner, so they will be saved on the server.
